Children’s Discipleship Captain

AngelPlease note: These job descriptions were composed for medium to large sized outreaches with Impact World Tour. For smaller events not all positions or simplified procedures might be required, please apply common sense in determining the needs for your community.

This Captain will work closely with the Discipleship Team, while focusing exclusively on the children. (Please see Discipleship Team Description) The main responsibilities of this Captain are to recruit Mums and older children to be Local Links, track their commitment to disciple inquirers and communicate with the Impact World Tour office after the Campaign.

Prior to the Campaign

  • Obtain a list of the available small groups at the participating churches that are focused on children.
  • Talk with any existing ministries in the community that focus on the discipleship of children. Obtain information from them about their meeting times and locations, leaders, materials, etc.
  • If there are no existing ministries at a school, work on starting one. Some ideas for elementary school ministries include having a Morning Prayer breakfast once a month (where local businesses donate breakfast) or having an after school program once a week (i.e. Good News Club). Work on having any new meetings set up and running at least 1 month before the IWT Campaigns.
  • Organize a training seminar for Neighborhood Bible Clubs with the Impact World Tour Coordinator. Neighborhood Bible Clubs are bible clubs that parents hold in their home for the children in their neighborhood. The goal is to have a club in every neighborhood, so invite people from every church to come and begin discipleship in their neighborhood.
  • Using the above information on church small groups and existing ministries, put together the Children’s Small Group Flier to be handed out by the Local Links on the campaign nights. Talk to the Local Coordinator to get the Flier template, to approve the finished fliers, and to work out the printing of the fliers.
  • Plan a meeting with the small group leaders and existing ministry leaders to make sure they understand the IWT Discipleship Plan and so they can meet the other children’s workers in the city.
After the Campaign
  • Track the small groups for eight weeks after the campaign
