Local Link Captain
Please note: These job descriptions were composed for medium to large sized outreaches with Impact World Tour. For smaller events not all positions or simplified procedures might be required, please apply common sense in determining the needs for your community.
Responsibilities of the Local Link Captain
The Local Link team is responsible to train and equip the local body of Christ for the best possible follow up of inquirers during and after the IWT events.
Primary functions of the team
- Supervise recruitment of Local Links, Call Team Members and Specialist Local Links from the participating churches
- Oversee the training of all recruits alongside the local IWT Coordinator
- Manage the local link area on the event nights
- Oversee the proper discipleship activities of the Call Team and Local Links for 8 weeks after the campaign Recruitment of Local Links, Call Team Members and Specialist Local Links from the participating churches.
Prior to the Campaign
- Recruit Local Links from participating churches through the Discipleship Reps of each church using the Local Link Application. The goal is to have one Local Link for every person that responds on a given night.
- Recruit 3-5 Specialist Local Links to assist each event night. Specialist Local Links must attend both IWT Local Link Training Sessions.
- Promote the Local Link Training Sessions and monitor to make sure that every Local Link has attended both sessions.
- If able and willing you might also be able to lead some of the Local Link Training Sessions.
- Assign 3-5 people to be Local Link Supervisors. During the altar call, these Supervisors will help match New Believers with Local Links to assure everyone has been met with.
On the Campaign Nights
Pre-event meeting:
- Meet Local Links and other personnel 90 minutes prior to event for registration.
- IWT Staff will run a short briefing 60 minutes before the event, reviewing procedure and answering questions.
- Lead a prayer time for the evening, releasing personnel 20-30 minutes before event begins. (If seating is filling up quickly, Local Links may need to sit in overflow seating)
- Be available for any questions.
- Be in the Local Link area during counseling time to answer any questions and sort out difficulties.
- Help the Local Link Supervisors make sure that every person that came forward is talking to a Local Link.
- Oversee Specialist Local Links, making sure they see and respond to any needs from the Local Links.
After the Campaign
- Each Local Link should call the New Believers within 24 hours of praying with them.
- Local Links should make arrangements to meet with the New Believers once within the first week after the campaign. If a Local Link counseled a group of friends on one night, they may feel free to meet with all of them at the same time.
- At the end of the first week, each Local Link should fill out the Initial Follow-Up Form and turn it in to the Local Link Captain.
- Continue to keep in contact with the New Believers once a week over the course of the next 8 weeks, encouraging them to join a small group and a church, and answering any questions they may have.
- At the end of the eight weeks of official follow-up, fill in the Final Follow-Up Form and turn it in to the Local Link Captain.
