Church Discipleship Team
Please note: These job descriptions were composed for medium to large sized outreaches with Impact World Tour. For smaller events not all positions or simplified procedures might be required, please apply common sense in determining the needs for your community.
The focus of the Church Discipleship Team is assist the participating churches to put together their discipleship plan for inquirers assigned to their church. This would include both existing discipleship structures (appropriate for inquirers) as well as new structures & leaders. The Church Discipleship Team should work in conjunction with the Strategic Discipleship Team.

Discipleship Seminar Bring the body of Christ together to be awakened to the need for all to participate actively in the discipleship of the community. There will also be training for each age group regarding relevant discipleship models. All team volunteers, donors and contacts etc. should be encouraged to attend.
6 months before tour
Obtain written discipleship plan Six months before the campaign, the Discipleship Team should obtain a written discipleship plan from the Discipleship Representative of each participating church. This plan is necessary to ensure that the stewardship of the harvest is being approached in an intentional and thoughtful manner at the individual church level.
The discipleship plan should include a description of what strategy will be implemented for the discipleship of inquirers in the following areas: children (5-9 yrs.), pre-teen (12 – 14), youth (15-18 yrs.), young adults (19 – 25), adults (26 yrs. and up) and Indigenous/Specific Target People Groups.

Assist struggling churches with written discipleship plan The Church Discipleship Team should begin to deliberately assist churches that either; a) didn’t submit a written discipleship plan, or b) are struggling with the area of discipleship implementation in their church. Assist in practical ways (i.e., sharing of resources, partnering of Discipleship Representatives with one another for support, holding open-training sessions so more churches can benefit from the positive momentum of discipleship preparation in other churches).

Facilitate further training for small group leaders As Churches put together their discipleship plan, more discipleship small group leaders will be recruited and may need training. It would be good to offer further training in the last few months prior to the outreach events.

Compile discipleship small groups list By now each participating church will have submitted their written discipleship plan. Confirm with those churches that what they have detailed in their plans is actually being implemented.
Use these details to create small group flyers for each age group. See IWT Coordinator for a flyer template. Local Links will use this as a tool during the altar call each night to assist the inquirer in choosing a discipleship small group to attend.
2 weeks before
Print discipleship small group flyers. Complete the compilation of the discipleship small groups lists. Print and give them to the Materials team.
