Youth Team Leader
Please note: These job descriptions were composed for medium to large sized outreaches with Impact World Tour. For smaller events not all positions or simplified procedures might be required, please apply common sense in determining the needs for your community.
Responsibilities of the Youth Team Leader:
The responsibility of the Youth Team Leader is to gain the involvement of as many church youth groups as possible. Approximately 40% of those responding at the Campaign will be youth, which will mean that youth pastors and leaders will need to be prepared to care for many new young believers. The Team Leader will be responsible to oversee the implementation of the discipleship strategy.
Considerations for Youth/ Student Team Leader:
- A youth/ children’s leader respected regionally
- Good communication skills (especially to young people)
- Good motivator and visionary
- A heart for discipleship and young people
- Ability to recruit a large number of youth or children
- Initiative and ability to follow through on projects
- Organizational skills
- Connections to youth networks and other youth ministries helpful
Procedure:
Step One:
Familiarize yourself with all of the responsibilities of this team, drawing up a timeline for events with deadlines for preparation.
Step Two:
Build the team by encouraging members to bring interested or qualified people from their church and other churches. It is ideal to have youth leaders or pastors from as many churches as possible.
Step Three:
Appoint three Captains:
- Student/ Youth Events Captain
- Student/ Youth Discipleship Captain
- Student/ Youth Prayer Captain
Step Four:
Split the members of the team into these three areas to assist the Captains. Each team will need to rely on the assistance of the others in certain cases - for example: the Student Events Captain will need Local Links for the events they hold.
