Publicity

Cover all the free publicity. Plan and assist in distribution of posters, flyers, tickets and bulletin inserts with others in the community-wide committee. Strategise and carry out creative, free ways to publicise the events.

Distribute posters, flyers and tickets in shops, schools, businesses and around town (beginning 3 weeks prior to Tour, 1-4 hours a week)
Carry out any other free publicity strategies such as pavement chalking or public service announcements (Tour month, 1-4 hours a week)

Participate in publicity strategy meetings (2-6 hours total)
Oversee publicity distribution (Tour month, 1-4 hours a week)

The goal of this team is to make both the Christian and secular communities aware of the Impact World Tour. The Publicity Team is responsible to coordinate all areas of distribution of free publicity including, but not limited to posters, flyers, tickets, and church bulletin inserts.

Publicity vs Advertising

Publicity covers all free placements – like Posters and Tickets. Advertising is the paid for media campaign in TV, Radio, Billboards, Press Releases… that is handled by the IWT office and often an advertising agency – not the Publicity Team.

Here are some fun and unique ideas you might want to use to raise the profile of IWT. Make sure you have permission to use these tools.

Chalking

With water soluble chalk write messages all over town “Impact World Tour is coming – date – location” “Don’t miss it – website”…

Table Tents

See if you can get some restaurants to agree to put advertising on their tables. Check with the IWT office if those items can be produced.

Costumes, funky hats, balloons…

Draw the attention to yourself in busy shopping or event areas, wear a sandwich board, hand out tickets or write messages on balloons hand them out to kids…
